Getting started
Get started with Mighty
Create your workspace, connect your mailbox and bring your team in - a setup checklist for new firms.
Mighty helps your firm run repeatable client work - tax returns, bookkeeping, onboarding - over ordinary email. Each piece of work is a workflow: the email conversations with your client, the todos to get it done, and the files they send. Clients don't need an account or a login; they just reply to your emails.
This guide takes you from signing up to sending your first email. Set aside about half an hour, most of it for connecting your mailbox.
Create your account
- Go to the sign-up page and enter your Name, Email and a Password of at least 8 characters - or click Continue with Google to use your Google account.
- If you signed up with a password, open the verification email we send you and click Verify Email within an hour. You'll be signed in automatically.
For security, you're signed in for 12 hours at a time, after which Mighty asks you to sign in again.
Create your workspace
A workspace is your firm's space in Mighty: its workflows, contacts, templates and mailboxes. Enter a Workspace name - usually your firm's name - and click Create workspace. You become its owner.
Unless your mailbox has its own sender name, your workspace name appears alongside your name on the emails you send, for example Sam Patel (Patel & Co). Use the name clients know you by.
Your setup checklist
1. Set your workspace's timezone
Go to Settings → General and choose your Timezone, then click Save changes. New workspaces start on UTC, and the workspace timezone decides when schedules run and how dates in templates are worked out.
Each person also has their own timezone under Account → Timezone, which Mighty sets from your browser. It's used for your reminders, scheduled emails and My work.
2. Connect your mailbox
Mighty sends and receives client email through your firm's own shared mailbox, such as [email protected]. Nobody can send email from Mighty until one is connected. Follow Connect your mailbox.
3. Add your email signature
Go to Account → Signatures and click Add signature. Your Default signature is used everywhere; if you work in more than one workspace you can add one for each. Signatures can include formatting and images (JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP, up to 5 MB).
Your signature is filled in automatically each time you write an email, and you can edit it per message. Each person sets their own.
4. Invite your team
- Go to Settings → Team.
- Under Invite by email, enter your colleague's Email, choose a Role (see below) and click Send invite.
They'll get an email saying who invited them and to which workspace, with an Accept Invitation button. The link lasts seven days. When they accept, they sign in or create an account using the invited address, or continue with Google.
Pending invitations are listed under Settings → Team, where you can Resend or Revoke them. Resending sends a fresh link and stops the old one working.
Each person takes up a seat, and so does each pending invitation. If every seat is in use, the invite form says so; an owner can add seats under Settings → Billing.
5. Turn on two-factor authentication
Protect your account with a code from an authenticator app each time you sign in: go to Account → Security, click Set up two-factor, scan the QR code and enter the code it shows. Save your recovery codes somewhere safe - you'll need one if you lose your phone.
If you sign in with Google, two-factor authentication is managed by your Google account instead.
6. Start working
You're ready to run your first workflow. If your firm runs the same process for many clients, set up a workflow template first so every new workflow starts with its threads, first messages and todos ready.
Roles
Everyone in a workspace can see and work on every workflow. Roles decide who can run the workspace itself.
| Member | Admin | Owner | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Create and run workflows, send email, manage todos | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Work the Triage queue | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Manage contacts, companies and contact lists | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Create templates and schedules | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Create tags and tag workflows | ✓ | ✓ | |
| Connect and manage mailboxes | ✓ | ✓ | |
| Invite and remove people, change roles | ✓ | ✓ | |
| Change the workspace name and timezone | ✓ | ✓ | |
| Turn AI assistant connections on or off | ✓ | ✓ | |
| See the Team overview | ✓ | ✓ | |
| Manage billing, plan and seats | ✓ |
A few rules about roles:
- Only an owner can make someone an owner, or change an owner's role.
- Owners can't be removed from the team; demote them first.
- A workspace always needs an owner, so the only owner can't leave.
- Role changes take effect straight away.
When you remove someone (Settings → Team → Remove), Mighty shows what they still own - open workflows, todos, schedules - and lets you reassign it to a teammate. Their comments, sent emails and files stay, credited to them.
Find your way around
On a computer, the bar along the top has:
- My work - your day: new replies, mentions, todos and a calendar. See Your day in My work.
- Team - owners and admins only: what needs attention across the firm.
- Triage - mail Mighty couldn't place on its own. See Work the Triage queue.
- Workflows - every workflow, plus your Schedules and Templates.
- Contacts - your clients and the people you email, plus Companies and Lists.
- Settings - workspace settings: General, Team, Tags, Email, AI assistants and Billing.
Your own settings - profile, timezone, signatures, notifications, calendars, connected apps and security - are under Account settings in the menu behind your initials. Search (⌘K, or Ctrl+K on Windows) finds workflows, threads, files, contacts and more.
On a tablet, the same links are in the menu at the top left. On a phone, the tabs along the bottom are My work, Triage, Workflows, Contacts and More - where you'll find Settings, your account, the workspace switcher and light or dark mode.
If you belong to more than one workspace, switch between them with the workspace name at the top left (or in More on a phone). You can create another workspace from the same menu.
